Review the accuracy of your personal information. Make sure your name, address, Social Security number and other personal information is correct. Check for any accounts that don’t belong to you. Make sure that any accounts listed on your credit report are in your name. Look for any negative items on your credit report, such as late payments and collections. Review the account details to make sure all of the information is accurate. This includes the account balance, the date it was opened, and the payment history. Check for any inquiries that you didn’t authorize. Contact the credit bureau and the creditor if you find any errors. The credit bureau will investigate any disputes you have and make corrections if needed.
